Uniform gas pricing likely to impact CBM producers
The ministry of petroleum and natural gas has decided to go in for uniform gas price regime for all the gas producers in the country based on the Rangarajan formula. The domestic gas pricing is currently at $4.2 per million metric British thermal unit. This will be doubled and expected to be in the range of US$ 8 per unit once the new government is sworn in. The above policy decision is likely to impact coal bed methane producers who are selling at a higher price in the range of US$ 5.1 to US$ 22.8 per unit.
