Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has partnered with GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of GMR Group, to offer an Operators Training Course, which will train under-privileged youth in India to operate construction machinery. Offered as a free-of-cost enabler programme to youth, this pioneering initiative aims to empower youth from rural India by creating employment opportunities for them, and help develop a skilled operator workforce in the fast growing Construction Equipment and Infrastructure industries in India. The Operators Training Course is a three-month comprehensive training module. It includes a two-week theory class on Volvo CE?s range of products, especially the excavator; a ten-week hands-on training programme on operating a high-end excavator followed by a theoretical and practical test. The participants will also be trained in spoken and written English, basic computer skills, entrepreneurship and yoga.
