We are now focusing towards user-friendly machines
Atlas Copco continuously invests in designing equipment which consumes less energy while rendering higher output. S Kumar, Business Line Manager, Power Technique Customer Center, Atlas Copco (India), shares more on the products and solutions.

How do you assess the growth trend of mini construction equipment in the market?
We cannot ignore that customers are also scaling up in terms of quality and service expectations, and we will continue to provide them with the time-tested Atlas Copco technology. The focus for pneumatic and hydraulic tools will be on localisation and developing new technology. With these mini equipment bringing in higher productivity and faster completion of jobs, the growth trend looks positive.

Which are the major products offered? What are the applications?
Pneumatic breakers, hydraulic power packs for hydraulic breakers, cut-off saws, water pumps, post drivers, post pullers and motor driven (petrol engine driven) breakers and drills are the major products which are required in many essential applications such as demolition, light-duty chipping and scaling work, renovation and conversion work, production drilling in mines and quarries, blast-hole and secondary drilling, breaking light concrete and brickwork, breaking concrete, cutting asphalt, and tamping and compacting.

What are the emerging technology trends and innovations in mini construction equipment?
These tools are easy to carry and are highly efficient where manual intervention is less. As leaders in innovation, we have introduced the dust collector. Breaking is a tough job, but with a dust collector, we can protect operators from harmful diseases which can be caused by inhaling dust.

Atlas Copco's pneumatic dust collectors use vacuum technology to efficiently remove dust directly at the source and keep the silica dust level on your construction site below the permissible exposure limit. They work indoors as well as outdoors. They don't require power, but only a reliable source of compressed air.

What are your future plans on product and market expansions?
We are now focusing towards user-friendly machines. All our tools are now ergonomic (vibration-free) and silenced, which results in increasing the efficiency of operator. HAPS? - Hands and arms protection technology, dust collectors for pneumatic tools will be a mandatory requirement, keeping in mind environment and health norms. Atlas Copco will continue to invest in a combination of smart engineering, time tested technology and quality components which all add up to a solution that is highly reliable and energy-efficient with extreme versatility.

PRODUCTS AND ADVANTAGES
Pneumatic tools:
Atlas Copco's pneumatic breakers and hammers are designed to get more work done in a day. HAPS? technology dampens vibrations and the tool's single casting design means fewer parts, less fuss.

Ergonomic best-in-class

The best possible power-to-weight ratio

Versatile: a tool for every application

One compressor can power several tools

Lowest total cost of ownership

Hydraulic breakers

Compact, lightweight and fast set-up

Works easily in any location/condition Power packs

are easy to carry to remote locations where bulky compressors cannot be transported.

low initial cost and low fuel consumption

Petrol motor driven breakers

are extensively used in remote locations and disaster areas (no prime mover and no external power is required)

Its weight is less than 25 kg, "one man carry - one man work"

Defence and Railways are extensively using this product

Fully autonomous
