Excerpts from the interview.

Tell us about the range of excavators offered by Sany India.
We are offering high-end technology excavator ranging from 7.5 tonne to 200 tonne. In our Pune plant, we are manufacturing SY75, SY135, SY205, SY215 and SY 235 which caters to 85 per cent of the total crawler excavator segment. We offer technologically advanced excavators, keeping high standards of quality with small customisation in configuration to suit application needs in India. Sany excavators are known for their high degree of performance and reliability.

What has Sany's performance been like during the last couple of years?
We have introduced our excavators to the Indian market recently but in spite of this, we have done good business within a short period due to our global brand image. Our product quality proved our stability in the market. Since we are a new player in India, we are focusing more on developing infrastructure to provide prompt after sales support. We are overwhelmed with the response from our existing customers which is manifested by way of us getting 50 per cent of our business from existing customers.

How do you address the issue of financing?
The financiers are extending full support to customers who approach them to procure Sany excavators, hoisting equipment and other products. Financiers are well-educated about Sany, Sany's infrastructure in India for manufacturing, product sales and support activities. Given the knowledge gained by them on the quality of Sany's products and the network of our organisation, they are providing financial support for Sany products at par with all other established CE equipment suppliers in India.

Tell us about the unique features.
Engine: We are using the world famous Izuzu, Cummins and Mitsubishi engines for our excavators. These engines are very strong on power and high reliability, low fuel consumption and less maintenance cost.

Hydraulic system: Sany is fitted with Kawasaki generation-III pump, main control valve and motors.

Cabin: Best-in-class air-conditioned cabin with silicon damping mountings, wider front view, Main structure component: Robust machine design with heavy-duty boom, arm and upper structure with thickened steel plates used in core position. Heavy- duty buckets for specific jobs.
