We see strong long-term potential in India
Could you outline the company’s background and its focus on the Indian market?
Polygon Composites is a Global Brands in Self Lubricating Composite Bearings, Cylinder Tubing , Medical tubing and insulation Products, Company have a legacy of over 75 years. We have manufacturing facilities in the US and Xiamen China, and our composite bushings are widely used across construction, agriculture, material handling and mining equipment worldwide. India is a relatively new market for us—we entered in 2023—and our current focus is to understand local applications and build a strong OEM-led presence.
At present, our products are not manufactured in India. However, localisation is linked to market scale. As volumes grow and the business stabilises, manufacturing in India is certainly something we will evaluate in the future.
Construction, agriculture and material handling are our primary segments. Globally, our products are widely used in Excavators, Backhoes, Boom Lifts, aerial work platforms, scissor lifts and forklifts and other equipments. We are now seeing growing opportunities in mining trucks and heavy-duty transportation equipment, where durability and reduced maintenance are critical.
India is a strategic growth market for us. We are segmenting our approach across construction, agriculture and material handling while simultaneously expanding our local team. To improve responsiveness, we have established a warehouse in Noida, enabling significantly shorter lead times—typically three to four weeks, compared to six to eight weeks that are common in the market.
What differentiates Polygon’s products from other solutions available in the market?
Our key differentiation lies in Product performance and design. Polygon bushings are designed to be maintenance-free, which directly improves equipment uptime. This is backed by decades of composite material expertise and continuous innovation in both materials and application engineering.
How is R&D structured within the organisation?
Our R&D efforts extend beyond material science. We work closely with customers to study real-world applications—particularly in construction and heavy equipment—so that our solutions are optimised for specific operating conditions. This application-led approach allows us to support customers with both product design and performance validation.
What challenges do you foresee in the Indian market?
Competition is always a challenge, particularly in a cost-sensitive market like India. However, our long-standing global experience, strong application knowledge and technical support capabilities help us address these challenges more effectively.
How are you approaching after sales and customer support?
Our primary focus is on OEM customers, where we operate largely as a tier I or tier II supplier. With the right technical inputs and drawings, we are able to support customers quickly and efficiently. Our emphasis is on engineering support rather than transactional aftermarket sales.
What are your growth plans for India going forward?
We see strong long-term potential in India. Along with expanding our sales and technical teams, we are actively evaluating larger investments, including the possibility of setting up a manufacturing facility in the future, as the market matures.
