We will exhibit our future-ready products
Seshnath B, MD and CEO, Walvoil Fluid Power (India)
Could you tell us about the key components/technologies you are displaying at Excon 2025?
We will be exhibiting products that pertain to the domains of construction equipment, agriculture, mining and material handling. The product categories will feature future-ready products from proportional valves to electronics, apart from the existing solutions that meet the current needs of our customers. Energy recovery systems to enhance system efficiency, will figure prominently.
How are your products helping OEMs and contractors improve equipment performance and lifecycle?
We develop unique solutions to meet specific needs of each customer, in terms of optimised machine performance. This is done by working with the customer design teams very closely, conducting pressure-mapping studies and refining the solutions along with the customer teams, to suit the performance needs for each application.
With sustainability gaining focus, what innovations are you bringing in terms of energy efficiency, durability, and recyclability?
We have developed products/solutions that use the system energy regeneratively. The emphasis of our solutions, is always on reducing pressure losses in the hydraulic system, to minimise fuel consumption.
How important is India as a manufacturing and sourcing hub for your global operations?
Walvoil India is today the Walvoil Group’s second largest manufacturing unit and actively supports all Walvoil subsidiaries in terms of supply of finished goods, as well as child parts. A quarter of our sales turnover comes from supplies to other units of the Walvoil Group and this figure is expected to grow even more in the coming years.
What challenges do you face in meeting OEM requirements for localisation and cost competitiveness?
Though we have been able to achieve a high degree of localisation, challenges remain in the areas of electronic items, certain high-precision machining jobs, consistency in output from vendors, etc.
How is your R&D focused on supporting electrification, hybrid, or alternative-fuel machinery?
Our main R&D centre in Italy is currently evolving path-breaking solutions, involving electrified controls to hydraulic applications.
How are you working with OEMs and contractors to ensure faster aftermarket support and availability of critical spares?
As a corporate policy, we do not sell in the after-market at all. We sell spares only to OEMs. besides, priority in inhouse production is given to meet the spares needs of customers, sometimes even at the cost of supply to OEM needs.
What is your outlook on the Indian component market’s growth in the next few years?
Thanks to the sustained investment by the government in building the infrastructure in the country, we see the Indian construction equipment market developing into the second largest market by 2030, if not earlier. Apart from the needs of the domestic market, many overseas companies are also setting up manufacturing facilities here and using India as a sourcing hub for their global requirements. We are optimistic about the medium and long-term and our company is accordingly making investments, to meet the growing demand of our customers.
