XCMG Starts Production at Indonesia New Energy Plant
XCMG has commenced production at its Indonesia New Energy Manufacturing Base located at the Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP) in North Maluku Province, marking the companys first overseas new energy factory.
The inauguration ceremony, held on July 27, witnessed the rollout and delivery of the first batch of new energy equipment to strategic partner Tsingshan Holding Groups IWIP. The facility represents a major step in XCMGs strategy to expand high-end, intelligent, green, global and service-oriented development.
The new manufacturing base integrates equipment production, localised research and development, and after-sales services to cater to Indonesias growing demand across mining, infrastructure and industrial logistics sectors. The facility is designed to reduce delivery timelines while providing equipment solutions suited to local operating conditions.
Leveraging smart manufacturing capabilities, the plant will support the large-scale deployment of electric construction machinery, helping industries in Indonesia transition towards low-carbon operations. XCMG is also developing used-equipment circulation and parts remanufacturing systems to improve resource efficiency and promote sustainable practices.
The collaboration between XCMG and IWIP combines advanced manufacturing expertise with industrial application requirements. By integrating technology, production capabilities and market demand, the partnership aims to create a new model for international cooperation among Chinese enterprises.
With over three decades of operations in Indonesia, XCMG has established a strong local presence through its sales and service network, more than 100 specialised service vehicles, and a three-tier spare parts and maintenance support system. The company currently supports the operations of over 30,000 XCMG machines across the country.
The commissioning of the new energy factory completes XCMGs integrated ecosystem in Indonesia, covering research and development, production, supply chain, sales and services. Locally manufactured electric equipment is expected to play a key role in advancing green infrastructure development in the region.
Nearly 80% of XCMGs workforce in Indonesia comprises local employees, reflecting the companys focus on job creation and skill development. XCMG Machinery was also recognised in the 2026 Fortune China ESG Impact List, remaining the only construction machinery company featured on the list.
