A large part of the business is in the hands of equipment operators. A well trained, skilled and certified heavy equipment and machine operator can play an important role in increasing the profitability. The Government of India has taken the Skill India initiative. This segment’s training delivery is quite challenging. IISD has been training and deploying operators at the mine sites of Hindustan Zinc. These operators run sophisticated equipment such as jumbo drill, winding engine, LHD and LPDT. Candidates are trained on actual machines and sophisticated simulators.

IISD has conducted the training for crusher operators of the customers of METSO. The skilled resource onsite helped in early diagnosis of problems, quick turnaround in case of breakdown and lower load of company’s service engineers.
