L2D Boomer
Breakthrough technology
A heavy-duty and high speed rock drill has been incorporated, for face drilling and long-hole drilling with a hole range of 38-64 mm. This makes for high penetration rates and excellent drill steel economy.

Differentiator
The Boomer L2D has the best productivity in its class of twin boom drill jumbos, completing the drilling activity much ahead of other machines. A single rock drill has reported a drilling rate between 130 to 160 m/ percussion hour with 45mm single pass drilling.

Areas of design changes
Heavy duty rock drills are now mounted on the Boomer L2D, which is less susceptible to poor operator practices and works on reduced operating cost. A modified heavy-duty front head design optimises face drilling whilst providing greater protection of the rock drill against bending stresses.

Other features include: The HD range of drifters from Atlas Copco features a much stronger design; Based on the COP 1800 design; 4-bolt front head; No all-the-way-through side bolts.; More ?meat? in the front head; Strengthened design of internal parts; and Tougher impact piston.

Specific innovative application
The Boomer L2D is designed keeping in mind the enormous amount of tunneling through Himalayan terrain that is required. Apart from face drilling and semi- mechanised rock bolting, other unique possibilities with this machine Piperoofing of 76 mm, 89 mm,114 mm and 140 mm OD seamless casings using concentric drilling principle.

  • Simultaneous drilling, installation, and grouting of self-drilling rock bolts by a special device named IRIA.
  • Postgrouting possibility using R32 female shank using self-drilling rock bolts.Dolly Swellex chuck for safer installation of Swellex bolts.
