High Performance Bearings for Construction Equipment
GGB bearings offer lower systems costs, improved performance, extended service life and maintenance-free, environmentally friendly operation.

Manufacturers of construction and other off-highway equipment rely on high-performance bearings for a wide range of applications.GGB Bearing Technology, formerly Glacier Garlock Bearings, supplies these manufacturers with filament-wound (Completely Non-metallic)and other plain bearings that provide superior performance, longer service life and lower cost of ownership than traditional greased bronze bearings, which are subject to friction and wear during periods of marginal and boundary lubrication.

GGB bearings are used in a wide range of construction equipment, including heavy-duty earth-moving and digging equipment, motor graders, excavators, concrete pumps, pile drivers, wheel loaders, backhoes, lifting equipment conveyors, crawler sand cranes.

Applications include axle trunnions, critical clearance joints, dump body pivots, frame/walking beam trunnions, kingpins, lift cylinders, linkage pins, rock shafts, skid steers cylinders , arm pivots and frame pivots, steering cylinder and suspension or track trunnions.

Eliminating the need for shafts with lubrication grooves and complex automated greasing systems, the self-lubricating bearings also reduce maintenance, tolerate conditions of inadequate or no lubrication and provide more environmentally friendly operation. Superior wear resistance extends service life and provides greater reliability, and low friction properties reduce power losses for improved equipment performance.

The compact, one-piece construction of the bearings provides space and weight savings and facilitates simple, secure installation. Offering load capacities of up to 620 MPa with no shaft or pin galling, the bearings provide excellent resistance to corrosion and tolerance of shock and edge loading. In addition they are dimensionally stable with low moisture absorption and no swelling.

Two GGB bearings are particularly well suited to construction equipment applications, where they deliver high reliability under extreme conditions. These include High-Strength GAR-MAX? (HSG?) filament wound composite bearings that provide high static load capacity(415 N/mm2), good friction and wear properties, and excellent resistance to shock, misalignment, chemicals and contamination. GGB DX? metal polymer bearings are designed for grease or oil lubricated applications. Greasing frequency for GGB DX is ? to 1/6 of solid bronze bushes. Available with or without grease reservoirs in the sliding layer, they provide optimum performance under relatively high loads and low speeds. The bearings are suitable for linear, oscillating and rotating movements.
