Leveraging Technology

Schwing Stetter India, one of the largest manufacturers of concreting and construction equipment across the country, launched Technovation 2022 in their global state-of-the-art manufacturing hub in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu. The main objective of the tech fest was to exhibit the concept of innovation through technology in the concrete and construction industries across the country.

Schwing Stetter’s state-of-the-art integrated facility of 52 acres comprising 50,000m2 of built-up area has now become a global manufacturing hub for Schwing’s concrete boom pumps, stationary pumps, self-loading mixers, shotcrete pumps, excavators, wheel loaders and motor graders.

This week-long event, which ran from February 7-13, 2022, bought together diverse industrial customers, stakeholders, local and global technology leaders to syndicate conversations about technology, partnerships, and innovation that can help advance market technology adoption.

Maintaining the Covid protocol and safety measures in mind, this event had around 2,000 customers over the course of one week. Some prominent customers who visited were state trading organisations, Godrej RMC, UltraTech Cement, ACC Cement, and so on. Members of key trade Associations like the Builders Association of India (BAI), Construction Equipment Rental Association (CERA), also attended this event.

The event featured a display of 70+ technology-driven products and brought in an experience zone for customers, vendors and new-age entrepreneurs. Visitors were able to experience the product, understand new technology and understand the business impact. Schwing had signed deals with customers across 20 product categories.

The seminars were presented by over 20 speakers from different segments of the industry with 18 topics and a lively exchange of knowledge-sharing sessions by impressive technical experts from renowned research institutions and tech industries. Schwing Stetter also launched their exclusive e-commerce website.

Also, during an exclusive event, Schwing Stetter awarded 40 candidates with operator certifications, getting trained in the global manufacturing hub and 15 trainees were offered job opportunities within Schwing Stetter and also with the customers of Schwing Stetter.

VG Sakthikumar, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter India, said, “At Schwing, we have always believed in innovation and technology as the driving factors behind the infrastructure growth. Schwing Stetter is extremely delighted and thrilled to conduct the Technovation 2022. We believe that this would be a perfect interactive platform to broaden the product range and technology-enabled service offerings. It also empowers and helps us to understand our customers in a better manner. Going forward, we will continue to implement new market innovation and growth strategies to sustain our market position.”

He added, “Keeping in line with our vision ‘customer-first approach’, Technovation 2022 was a successful platform that helped us to bring our customers and vendors closer to us and have an opportunity to experience our R&D and technology expertise, especially in our global manufacturing hub facility. We do hope to have this event more frequently to have a perfect knowledge-sharing platform and bring technology closer to our customers and vendors.”

MoUs with Gulf Oil and HPCL

Gulf Oil Lubricant has collaborated with Schwing Stetter to launch a range of genuine oils. The latter has entered into a strategic partnership with Gulf Oil for its construction equipment needs.

This partnership brings to the market a range of products that include high technology & high-quality lubricants like premium hydraulic oil, engine oil, axle oil, gear oil & high-end synthetic gear oil for their concrete pump, batching plant, concrete mixture & self-loading mixer.

Ravi Chawla, MD, and CEO, Gulf Oil Lubricants India, said, “The upsurge in demand for lubricants in the construction sector is clearly visible. Our innovative advanced product technologies and diverse product range can meet the ever-evolving demands of SS equipment users and the market.”

VG Sakthikumar said, “Innovation and technology have been our key drivers for the brand and Gulf Oil seamlessly fit in to provide the right kind of solutions to our infrastructure growth.”

Schwing Stetter also collaborated with HPCL with the objective of synergising technological energy efficiency improvements in the concrete and construction equipment sector.

Going electric!

Schwing Stetter is already working on electric versions of some of their machines. The company is looking for specific areas where electric mobility solutions can be used. “A 100-horsepower engine product that works inside tunnels used for metro, road, or hydropower projects can use e-versions effectively because it will cut out exhaust fumes. We are attempting to convert applications like these to electric versions,” said VG Sakthikumar. With lithium-ion battery production being localised, both by Indian as well as MNC players, sourcing battery is no longer an issue, he added.
