Customers today look beyond equipment alone
Dimitrov Krishnan, Managing Director, Volvo CE India
What has been your focus at Excon?
Our focus at Excon was on demonstrating solutions designed specifically for Indian operating conditions. Under the theme ‘Bharosa Har Mod Par – Trust at Every Turn’, we showcased equipment and services that address productivity, uptime and sustainability, reflecting the evolving needs of India’s infrastructure, mining and material-handling sectors.
The EC215 is a Made-in-Bharat excavator developed for India’s diverse and demanding applications. Following the EC210, it extends our ‘Zyada’ philosophy into the 20–22-tonne class, offering higher productivity, fuel efficiency and uptime. It is based on extensive customer insights and reflects our commitment to delivering value where it matters most on Indian job sites.
We strengthened our India-centric portfolio with the SD110 compactor for road construction and introduced the L120 Electric Wheel Loader, now commercially available in India. This marks a significant step towards zero-emission, cost-efficient construction solutions. We also pre-launched the EC650, making its first appearance in India, aimed at large construction and mining applications.
Customers today look beyond equipment alone. We demonstrated our integrated service ecosystem, including Equipment-as-a-Service models, digital machine monitoring, productivity management tools and operator skill development. These solutions help maximise fleet utilisation, reduce downtime and improve lifecycle performance.
How does localisation and R&D in India support this roadmap?
India plays a strategic role in Volvo CE’s global plans. Our upcoming Technology Centre in Bengaluru will focus on R&D, localisation and product development for both Indian and global markets. This strengthens India’s position within our global innovation network and supports our long-term commitment to safety, performance and sustainability.
