BorgWarner Wins New Dual Inverter Project with Leading Chinese OEM
BorgWarner has secured a new contract to supply its advanced dual inverter technology to a major Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for hybrid vehicles. This deal marks a renewed collaboration between the two companies following their initial partnership in 2021. Mass production is expected to commence by the end of 2025.

Strategic Collaboration in China’s NEV Market
“This milestone signifies a new phase of collaboration in the new energy vehicle sector,” said Dr. Stefan Demmerle, Vice President of BorgWarner Inc. and President and General Manager, PowerDrive Systems. “In China’s rapidly evolving NEV market, BorgWarner remains committed to supporting our customers with innovative and high-quality electrification solutions.”

Key Features of BorgWarner’s Dual Inverter Technology:
Synchronous Dual Motor Control: Manages two motors via a single controller, enhancing packaging flexibility and installation ease.
Compact, Cost-Efficient Design: Proprietary packaging integrates diverse power modules, reducing weight and cost.
Enhanced Thermal Performance: Advanced power module design lowers thermal resistance by up to 50 per cent versus single-sided cooling, improving power density.
Flexible Semiconductor Integration: Supports different die types within the same module size to meet China’s stringent CLTC efficiency standards.
Improved Efficiency Range: Adaptive voltage regulation extends constant power and high-efficiency zones for enhanced system performance.

Next-Generation Innovations:
Gen 3 Model: Features a high-performance single chip for simultaneous DC-DC conversion and dual motor control, with optional high-voltage auxiliary interfaces.
Gen 4 Model: Integrates a boost converter and dual inverters, with an optional DC-DC module for greater platform flexibility.

With ongoing system and hardware optimization, BorgWarner continues to advance its electrification portfolio to meet the dynamic needs of the global hybrid vehicle market.
