CASE demonstrates ‘Made in India’ products
CASE Construction Equipment, a 180-year-old global brand under the CNH Industrial umbrella, displayed its made-in-India product proficiency at the brand’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. The programme is a part of the celebration of the brand’s abled R&D and product development team’s efforts to design, develop and manufacture world-class quality products in India for global usage. This engagement is also a testimony to the brand’s sincere alignment with the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

Located in the industrial hub of Pithampur, the CASE Construction factory stands tall amidst a sea of factories and warehouses. As we approached the factory gates, we were greeted by the sight of several pieces of equipment lined up in perfect formation.

The brand displayed the recently launched 770 NXe loader backhoe along with 770EX tractor backhoe loader; 1107FX and 952 vibratory compactors, 1650 dozer and 865 graders, along with CX220LC crawler excavator.

Shalabh Chaturvedi, India General Manager at CASE Construction Equipment India, said, “Delivering top-notch, technologically advanced products to consumers across markets has always been our commitment at CASE. Our cutting-edge plant in Pithampur has been supplying CASE equipment to customers around the world for more than three decades. The majority of our products are more than 75 per cent indigenous and are in line with national initiatives like ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’. We are looking forward to catering to the increasing demand for construction equipment from this plant and are driven to design, produce, and provide machines that are beneficial to our customers to further the needs of the changing infrastructure in the country.”

The Pithampur manufacturing facility is one of the brand’s eight manufacturing hubs, globally. Spread across 40 acres of land, the facility operates according to the company’s CNH Business System (CBS), which involves all employees across the entire organisation to drive greater accountability, agility, efficiency and safety. It achieves consistently high quality with its class-leading and automated production technologies, including robotic welding, laser cutting and high-precision machining. It has ISO certifications for its quality, health and safety, and environmental and energy performance.

The plant has last year achieved a significant milestone of manufacturing 50,000 loader backhoes. It manufactures a wide range of products for over 75 countries including India, Africa, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific region North and Latin America. Puneet Vidyarthi, Head of Marketing and Business Development, India & SAARC, CASE Construction Equipment, said, “As a leader in the construction equipment industry, CASE is committed to empowering the youth of the country, through its various skill development initiatives. Among these, is Hunar, a CSR initiative where we provide complete training on Loader Backhoe operation. The initiative contributes to the Skill India Mission. Furthermore, we recognise the importance of skilling our own employees and dealer staff, and therefore have established a training centre in the Pithampur plant premises to offer training on newer machines and technology.”

The centre covers nearly 900 sq m and encompasses three classrooms with a practical workshop area attached that can train up to 72 trainees at any time. Moreover, it is equipped with multi-mode facilities that allow both on-ground and virtual sessions via the company’s online training portal. The Skill Development Centre, for the Hunar initiative which is located in Sonvai, Rau near Pithampur, is a 1,200 sq. ft, facility that helps train 240 professionals each year.

Satendra Tiwari, Director – Manufacturing, Case New Holland Construction Equipment India, said, “The bronze-certified World Class Manufacturing (WCM) hi-tech facility in Pithampur with the full scope of industry-leading automated technologies focuses on employee safety as well as product quality and precision.”

We were given a tour of the factory by one of the engineers, who explained the various stages of manufacturing an excavator, compactor, and to-be-launched skid-steer loader. The process began with the fabrication of the various parts of the machine. These were made from high-strength steel and carefully cut and shaped by machines to exact specifications.

Once the parts were fabricated, they were then assembled into the main frame. The precision and coordination required for this stage were truly impressive, as workers lifted and maneuvered the heavy components with ease.

After the mainframe was assembled, the equipment was moved on to the painting and finishing stage. Here, workers meticulously painted and polished the machine to ensure that it looked as good as it performed.

One of the most interesting parts of the tour was seeing the testing area. Here, each of their equipment were put through rigorous tests to ensure that they met the high standards set by Case. Watching a bulldozer push a massive pile of dirt around like it was nothing was truly awe-inspiring.

The factory also has a strong focus on sustainability, using environmentally friendly technologies and practices. The company has installed solar panels on the factory's roof to generate renewable energy and has implemented a rainwater harvesting system to conserve water.

A global leader in Construction Equipment since 1842, CASE has been present in India since 1989. Since its inception, it has consistently remained a market leader in the Vibratory Compactor segment and a leading player in the backhoe loader segment.

CASE Construction customers come back for its wide offering and excellent After Market Service (CASE Protect and CASE Care – extended warranty service, CASE Sitewatch programme, ensures timely working procedures in case of any delay or disruption) which is available at the large dealer network across the country. Known to deliver powerful products that offer productivity, efficiency and profitability, some of the standout features of CASE equipment are FPT Engine, BS (CEV)-IV compliant that provides fuel efficiency, and Intelligent Hydraulic System (CIHS). Some of the safety and comfort features such as RH Pillar mounted GVAC control, open and lockable storage spaces on RH Cluster for operator comfort and AV system for quick information, engines designed with lockable hood, rear-view visibility for maximum safety of the operators, HVAC mode, electronic foot throttle, intuitive side cluster and multi-adjustable operator seat make it an ideal choice of customers. These features are present in some of the best offerings by CASE Construction such as the FX Series loader backhoes and vibratory compactors, CX C-Series excavators, motor graders and dozers. CASE is a customer-centric brand and values its feedback. Therefore, fuel efficiency is one of the key features in the equipment that not only saves fuel costs but also offers faster cycle time, thereby increasing productivity.

Besides, manufacturing and distributing best-in-class construction and mining equipment, CASE Construction is keenly focused on giving back to the environment and building rural communities through its CSR projects. CNH Industrial and its entities have shown commitment to sustainability and care for the environment by saving more than 30,000 crore litres of water by sustainable farming equipment like pneumatic planters, sugarcane harvester and balers. The company has also made signification contributions towards environment conservation projects such as tree plantation, pond adoption (Jal Sanchay), and prevention of crop stubble burning.

Overall, the visit to the Case construction factory in Pithampur was an incredible experience. It was amazing to see the amount of work and precision that goes into building these machines and to witness first-hand the role they play in building the infrastructure of our country.
