Change of guard at Schwing Stetter India
Schwing Stetter India announced the retirement of Anand Sundaresan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the company and a pioneer in the concreting and manufacturing industry. His colleague for over 20 years now, VG Sakthikumar, currently the Whole-time Director at Schwing Stetter India, will now take charge as the Managing Director. Also, Dr Gunther Abolins, currently the Non-executive Vice Chairman, will now take charge as the Chairman of the Board of Schwing Stetter India.

Sakthikumar has been with Schwing Stetter India since the beginning of its operations. He is primarily responsible for building marketing strategies and enhancing customer touch points for the brand. Within 10 years of assuming office, 29 branch offices were set up across the country to ensure that customers were given top-most priority. He is also instrumental in setting up the export market and overseas offices in South East Asia. With a keen eye to expand growth and product lines, another key milestone in Sakthikumar?s career is the introduction of XCMG machinery in India.

Attributing the company?s growth to Sundaresan and accepting the mantel, Sakthikumar said, ?This is a momentous occasion for me. Sundaresan and I have been working together for the past three decades, to build the brand ?Schwing Stetter? in India. With the support of my colleagues and customers, my dream is to further push the growth of the company in India and make Schwing Stetter India and XCMG the most preferred brands for concreting and construction equipment.?

Sundaresan served as Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Schwing Stetter India since 1998. Owing to his constant commitment towards building the brand from a one-man army in 1999, Schwing Stetter today is a strong force with over 2,269 employees. From a two-bedroom house in 1999, today Schwing Stetter India is a 38-acre factory with 29 branch offices in India.

On retiring, Sundaresan said, ?I spent 20 years building Schwing Stetter India into the company that it is today. I sincerely thank my colleagues at Schwing Stetter, leaders in industry, members of trade associations and other business partners for being supportive of my endeavours. I am truly joyous to handover my baton to Sakthikumar, who has worked with me closely in this stupendous journey and I wish him all the success in the growth of the brand. Schwing Stetter India has come a long way and I will still continue to remain closely associated with the company and represent the brand at various industry associations while playing a strategic key role in diversification.?

Sundaresan will now serve as a Vice-Chairman to Schwing Stetter India and will focus his energies towards the upcoming 55-acre Cheyyar Project. This facility is larger than the existing Schwing Stetter manufacturing facilities in Irungattukottai, Sriperumbudur, and Kancheepuram. He will also focus on identifying new products and projects that will aid in further increasing the growth of the company.
