Compact Crane on the Job
Liebherr's LTC 1045-3.1 upgraded gantry crane is a success.

The space is narrow between the machining centres in the production building for steel components at Liebherr-Hydraulikbagger GmbH in Kirchdorf, so it is the perfect location for the com-pact Liebherr LTC 1045-3.1 telescopic mobile crane. In fact, two 45-tonne models provided by Schmidbauer crane and heavy transport contractors were used to replace the crane track for a gantry crane.

Since excavator components are becoming larger and heavier, the capacity of the indoor crane also had to be increased. By replacing a total of eight girders for the gantry crane it was possible to double its lifting capacity from 20 t to 40 t. Two mobile cranes were used for this work to en-hance safety when hoisting and assembling the girders, each of which weighed in at 6 tonnes.

Since there was very little space between the girders and the existing installation system, the two LTC 1045-3.1 models were fitted with an assembly jib. In addition, it was not possible to use a hook block. Once again the concept of the compact Liebherr LTC 1045-3.1 proved to be ideal for use in constricted production buildings.

The LTC 1045-3-1
The LTC 1045-3.1 compact crane is a special crane for use in constricted areas and is particularly compact and manoeuvrable. It enables crane work to be carried out in extremely tight areas through which conventional all-terrain mobile cranes cannot pass or can only do so with severe restrictions. The LTC 1045-3.1 provides the outstanding handling features of classic all-terrain cranes whilst its compact design also makes an ideal hoisting unit for working in highly constricted places such as industrial buildings.

The Schmidbauer Group
The Schmidbauer Group is one of the leading companies in the crane services and special trans-port sector for work throughout Europe, and has a total of more than 250 cranes and 150 heavy transport units. All this is done from a single source and central contacts, reducing the number of interfaces and providing solution-based advice through its workforce of 500 and 23 branch offices throughout Germany, as well as sites in France, Finland and Estonia ensure short reaction times and maximum flexibility as well as safety.
