Elofic filters are designed to achieve superior protection
Elofic has developed a complete range of filtration products that helps its OEMs to meet BS-VI standards. KD Sahni, Vice Chairman cum Joint Managing Director, Elofic Industries, sheds more light on the products and solutions that meet the upcoming demands.

What is the role of filters in providing better fuel efficiency and productivity in an equipment?
The role of filter in equipment is to maintain the cleanliness to achieve the optimal performance, increase engine and equipment protection, extended service interval, reduced downtime and increased equipment efficiency and productivity.

How are you gearing up to meet the latest emission norms? What are the new developments?
Elofic has developed a complete range of filtration products that helps its OEMs to meet BS-VI standards. For diesel vehicles, we are going to use fuel with 10 ppm sulphur content as compared to 50 ppm, which means diesel fuel is going to have lower interfacial tension. This posed a key challenge in the separation of small water particles that are up to 10 micron in size.

Also, the size of fuel injectors is going to be reduced. If a small amount of water or small dust particles enters the fuel injection system, it will damage the whole system. To avoid such situations, Elofic has come up with an advanced diesel filter which provides 99 per cent efficiency at four microns and is also able to achieve water separation efficiency above 95 per cent. Once BS-VI is adopted by industries, they shall be ready to cater to the future requirements.

What are the new filtration products and solutions from Elofic for construction and mining equipment?
Modern mining and construction equipment requires advanced filtration to maximise the performance and reliability. Elofic filters are designed specifically to achieve superior protection and give extended maintenance interval. Our filters incorporate many patented designs and innovative filtration media.

How do you offer filters for applications in varying geological, climatic and environmental conditions?
We select the filter material based on customer input and also take into consideration environmental conditions and government regulations.

How is the market for hydraulic filters progressing? What are the growth prospects?
The hydraulic filter market revenue has grown at a modest 3.5 per cent CAGR due to high demand of hydraulic filter in aerospace industry. In 2018, the hydraulic filter market reached $1.8 billion and it is expected to grow at a healthy 4.5 per cent CAGR during 2019-28.

What are your future plans on product development and market expansion in India?
We are constantly increasing our product portfolio and network to increase our market share in this vertical.
