Shawmut Equipment completes 60 years in lifting industry
Shawmut Equipment, one of Manitowoc Cranes? leading distributors, is celebrating its 60th year in the cranes and lifting business. Over the last six decades, the Manchester, Connecticut-based company has been an integral part of Manitowoc?s expansion into the North-eastern US, as well as the Atlantic provinces of Canada. Shawmut offers a full range of Manitowoc, Grove, Potain and National Crane-branded cranes, in addition to a variety of utility equipment.

Founded in 1957 by George O?Connell, Shawmut Equipment remains a family business to this day. The company became one of Grove?s first distributors in 1963, and in 1995 it was made the exclusive dealer for Manitowoc?s crawler crane line in New England. Shawmut expanded its operations to Canada 10 years ago when it opened the doors of its facilities in New Brunswick.

?Our business philosophy is to do the right thing for the customer in each and every aspect of the business,? said David O?Connell, President of Shawmut. ?This is the only way to succeed. We have repeat customers who have done business with us for generations, as well as new customers who are doing business with us for the first time. We attempt to treat all customers in a fair and honest manner, whether it concerns an equipment sale, a rental, a parts purchase or service work.?
