We are displaying seven new models
Parind Prabhudesai, Managing Director, Andreas STIHL

What are the new products you are showcasing at Excon 2025?
At Excon 2025, through our authorised dealers, we plan to showcase the all-new STIHL EHC Stationary Engine Series, a strategic expansion into the 4 HP to 15 HP power range. While STIHL is globally renowned for handheld power tools, this platform marks our entry into being a comprehensive power solutions provider for the Indian infrastructure sector.

We are displaying seven new models—ranging from the compact EHC 405 S (4 HP) to the heavy-duty EHC 1505 S (15 HP). These engines are designed to power the “heart” of construction sites, driving essential equipment like concrete compactors, RCC vibrators, power trowels and groove cutters.

How are your machines addressing the demand for efficiency, safety, and sustainability in India’s infrastructure growth?
We have engineered the EHC series specifically to address these three pillars:

  • Sustainability: All models in this range are Euro 5 compliant, ensuring low emissions without compromising power, aligning with greener construction practices.
  • Efficiency: These engines deliver High torque at lower RPMs, ensuring equipment don't stall under heavy loads, which directly boosts onsite productivity.
  • Safety: integrated features like Oil Alert systems (which shut down the engine if oil levels are unsafe) and robust heat shielding to protect operators working long shifts in Indian weather conditions.
With India focusing on mega infrastructure projects, how do you see the demand evolving for large vs. mid-sized/small equipment?
While mega-projects rely on massive earthmovers, the demand for mid-sized and small equipment is growing just as fast because they are the “finishers” of these projects. You cannot complete a metro line, a highway, or a smart city project without the secondary fleet. Our EHC engines are targeted exactly at this segment. We see a massive surge in demand for highly reliable small engines that can run 12+ hours a day to keep these mega-projects moving.

What role does localization play in your product strategy for India?
At STIHL while designing every product, inputs in terms of local market requirement, regulations are considered. Every product launched in India goes through extensive field trials and necessary approvals before launch. This also applies to engines as they were selected and tested for Indian operating conditions—which include dust, heat, and varied fuel quality. Furthermore, we have also started local values addition with MII for selected products. For construction segment most of the accessories and attachments used in engine applications are localised.

How is your company addressing after-sales service and spare parts availability in remote project sites?
We know that in any industry more so in construction, downtime is lost money. Our engines have two-year warranty, which is a testament to our confidence in their durability. We believe in appointing “servicing dealers” who are well trained to meet STIHL service standard with well equipped workshops and also to support remote sites. Our Servicing dealer network spans across country covering even tier-II and tier-III cities.

What are your growth priorities for the Indian market in the next three to five years?
STIHL in India is well known brand in forestry, agriculture and landscaping segment and we are introducing more products to consolidate that position. With introduction on many new products for construction industry especially engines we aim to make STIHL as reliable partner for “Construction and Industrial” segment. Over the next three to five years, we will be focussing on OEMs in construction industry for various applications like compactors, mixers, and cutters.

How do you see the rental equipment ecosystem shaping demand for your products?
The rental market is the ultimate test of durability. In rental model, there are multiple users and equipment is often handled roughly and maintained irregularly. We view the rental ecosystem as a major growth driver. Rental agencies prioritise low maintenance costs and high uptime above all else. With our heavy-duty components (like the cast iron cylinder sleeves and dual-element air filters), the EHC series is built to survive the rental cycle better than generic alternatives. Apart from Engined we are developing our own rental fleet with selected models which will be available at selected channel partners.
