Bobcat Introduces E40 Compact Excavator
Bobcat has unveiled its latest innovation, the E40 compact excavator, designed to revolutionize construction equipment. This remarkable machine boasts a tailswing of less than 2 inches, a standard long arm, and an impressive lifting capacity of nearly 4,000 pounds.

The E40 is powered by a 40-horsepower, turbocharged Bobcat engine, setting new standards by eliminating the need for a diesel particulate filter to meet Tier 4 Final emission regulations. Additionally, the fuel filter's increased capacity ensures a longer-lasting performance.

Scheduled for a late 2023 market launch, the E40 will make its debut at the Equip Expo (formerly GIE+Expo) from October 17th to 20th in Louisville, Kentucky.

One standout feature of this compact excavator is the standard long arm, providing an extra foot of digging depth and reach. This capability is further supported by the standard counterweight, large boom cylinder, and swing casting, resulting in an impressive 11-foot dig depth and nearly 18 feet of maximum reach at ground level. With a bucket digging force of 7,284 pound-feet, the E40 offers unparalleled performance.

Bobcat has also ingeniously designed the swing frame castings and cylinders to remain within the tracks during offset digging. This innovation allows operators to dig flush against obstacles while maintaining visibility of their work.

The E40 has earned its reputation as a class leader in over-the-blade and over-the-side lifting capacity, despite its minimal tailswing. The high slewing power makes it ideal for backfilling trenches or managing loaded buckets on uphill terrain. Additionally, the standard blade, with a 25-degree angle adjustment left or right, helps direct spoils without forming windrows on both sides.

Inside the E40, you'll find Bobcat's R2-Series cab, complete with tall, wide windows. The flat, FOPS-certified polycarbonate top window and narrow side pillars ensure excellent visibility. The dual-flange track roller system ensures smooth traveling.

Operator comfort is a top priority, with ample legroom, foldable floor pedals, a suspension seat, low-effort joysticks featuring fingertip boom swing and auxiliary control, standard LED lights, and a two-piece floor mat. Keyless, password start is available as an option.

Servicing the E40 has been made more convenient with the addition of greaseless bushings at the base end of the boom offset cylinder, extended oil service intervals (now 750 hours), and the integration of a toolbox and grease gun holder.

The cooling system features side-by-side heat exchangers, effectively managing operating temperatures to safeguard engine components and simplify maintenance. The design also reduces noise, enhancing operator comfort.

In summary, the Bobcat E40 compact excavator represents a remarkable leap in efficiency and performance, promising to redefine the industry's standards. With its innovative features and dedication to operator comfort and serviceability, it's set to become a game-changer in the world of construction equipment.
