Customer in Focus
Apar Industries offers the entire range of lubricants for construction and mining applications. This includes engine oils, transmission oils, UTTO, hydraulic oils, ATF, multi-purpose and speciality greases. Its entire ranges of HDDEO are all API certified till CJ4 category and certified by Volvo under VDS3 and VDS4 specifications. The company blends its entire range of engine oils with group II+ and group III base stocks. A few advantages of its engine oils include: extended drain interval, enhanced equipment life, lower piston deposits, better fuel economy, excellent friction characteristics, better soot handling capability, excellent shear stability (uses better base oils with higher inherent VI/lower traction coefficient. Given below is a case study on the company's Power Engine Super Maxima Plus engine oil. Approvals: Approved, validated and certified by API based on various engine performance parameters. Approved by Volvo under VDS3 category.
Advantages of engine oils
Blended with Group II+ hydro-cracked base stocks.
Excellent frictional characteristics and lower traction coefficient.
Lower piston deposits to the tune of 30 per cent.
Excellent soot dispersancy technology can handle soot more than 8 per cent and keeps the drain interval intact.
Excellent TBN retention.
Fuel economy of 2 per cent guaranteed.
Trial protocol
Objective: To validate and firm up oil change interval for Apar's product Engine oil API CI4 Plus SAE 15W40.
Product offered: Power Engine Super Maxima Plus
Equipment selected: Excavator
CAT 320D2
Engine model and make: CAT/ EXR 172 D2

On-field trial report
Customer: Reputed player in road construction and mining
Objective: To validate and firm up oil change interval for Apar engine oil API CI4 Plus
Equipment selected: Excavator CAT 320D2
Engine Model and Make: CAT/ EXR 172 D2
Existing engine oil: Premium CI-4 Plus oil; The existing engine oil was drained at 450 hr before charging this machine with Apar product.
Product offered: Power Engine Super Maxima Plus.
Trial validation results
- There is no significant increase or decrease in the viscosity of the oil even after 600 hr of continuous running.
- All parameters are well within acceptable limits
The elemental (wear analysis) indicates that Fe is comparatively on lower side than existing product at 600 hr.
Lower TAN value compared to existing oil highlights better oxidation stability.
Highly stable TBN additive package with better retention.
Benefits to customer
The trial results indicate benefit to customers such as Extended drain interval, decrease in overall running cost, lower piston deposits, and enhanced fuel economy.
