Govt takes note of CERA?s demands
The Union Government has taken note of the request submitted by the Construction Equipment Rental Association (CERA) on issues related to GST on equipment rental services. ?Taking note of CERA?s letter to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and MSME, the Ministry of Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has asked the GST Council to assess the demand of CERA for reducing GST on equipment rental services and take appropriate action,? informed Satin Sachdeva, Secretary General, CERA to the members and equipment rental industry of India.

Thanking the Union Minister, he said that CERA has received a written reply from the Ministry of MSME and this is a positive response that the government has at least taken cognizance of the GST issue. ?We hope our other demands will also be considered by the Minister,? Sachdeva added.

CERA had written a letter to Nitin Gadkari on August 08, 2019 apprising him of the issues and difficulties being faced by construction equipment rental industry of India, primarily due to GST and problems in payment recoveries.

Underlining these issues, CERA had also warned the government of the danger looming on the existence of the equipment rental companies of India and on the jobs of lakhs of operators and mechanical staff.
