We will be launching a new material-handling brand

Viraj Parthi, Commercial Director, Lifting and Environmental, Terex India

What are the new products you are showcasing at Excon 2025?

At Excon 2025, we are showcasing our latest Franna pick-and-carry cranes, including the FR17XSi and FR25XS, which continue to set benchmarks for mobility, safety, and lifting performance in India. We will also be launching a new material-handling brand, with its first machines being built in India—reinforcing our commitment to localisation and advancing the “Make in India” initiative.

Alongside these introductions, customers will also have the opportunity to engage with our teams on our modular and mobile crushing and screening solutions, particularly for high-productivity and cost-efficient operations.

As part of our ongoing commitment to delivering world-class customer support, we are also introducing the new Connec-T telematics platform. Connec-T enhances fleet visibility and provides real-time insights on machine utilisation, health monitoring, and preventive maintenance—further strengthening our ability to offer superior lifecycle value and long-term reliability.

How are your machines addressing the demand for efficiency, safety, and sustainability in India’s infrastructure growth?

Franna cranes are engineered for safer, faster material handling with excellent visibility, compact design, and optimised stability—ideal for dense urban job sites. Finlay machines support sustainable production with hybrid/dual power options, lower fuel consumption, energy-efficient crushing and screening systems, and reduced dust generation.

The new India-built material handler being launched at Excon further contributes to recycling, waste re-handling, and cleaner project execution. Together, these solutions help contractors achieve higher productivity, lower emissions, and enhanced operator safety—reinforcing our commitment to “Make in India” and sustainable infrastructure development.

With India focusing on mega infrastructure projects, how do you see the demand evolving for large vs mid-sized/small equipment?

Large-scale projects such as expressways, metro corridors, industrial clusters, and mining expansion continue to favour high-capacity, reliable equipment, while mid-sized and compact machines remain essential for urban and last-mile works. Franna cranes address both ends of this spectrum, with larger models suited for heavy infrastructure lifts and compact variants designed for efficient operation in congested city environments.

Finlay Hybrid machines are seeing strong demand across large-tonnage production needs because they deliver high output with significantly lower operating costs. Their ability to combine heavy-duty processing capability with reduced fuel consumption and improved energy efficiency makes them an ideal choice for contractors looking to optimise productivity while managing cost per tonne more effectively.

How are you incorporating digital technologies like telematics, AI, or automation in your machines?

Our new Connec-T telematics platform provides real-time monitoring of machine health, utilisation, fault alerts, and preventive maintenance needs across Franna and Finlay equipment. The platform is being expanded progressively across additional Terex product categories.

Across our brands, we continue to introduce automated safety systems, intelligent hydraulic responses, and operator-assist features. These technologies reduce human error, increase precision in lifting and processing operations, and improve overall cycle-time efficiency.

What role does localisation play in your product strategy for India?

Localisation is central to our long-term growth strategy. Franna cranes and Finlay crushers and screens are manufactured in India, enabling us to serve the market with competitive pricing, shorter delivery cycles, and strong serviceability. Importantly, for the first time within the Terex portfolio, an international material-handling brand—being launched at Excon—is also being manufactured in India, further reinforcing our commitment to building advanced, high-value equipment locally.

Local manufacturing allows us to design, configure, and support machines specifically for Indian operating conditions while strengthening the domestic value chain.

How is your company addressing after-sales service and spare parts availability in remote project sites?

Terex India has strengthened its nationwide support network through regional parts warehouses, an expanded dealer ecosystem, and trained service engineers positioned closer to major machine clusters. With Connec-T now available on our equipment, customers can anticipate service needs earlier, streamline spare parts planning, and minimise downtime.

For remote or high-intensity project sites, we provide on-site support and operator training to ensure machines remain productive and well-maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

What are your growth priorities for the Indian market in the next three to five years?

Our priorities include expanding local manufacturing capability, growing the Franna installed base, strengthening Finlay’s position in the mobile crushing and screening market, and establishing our new India-built material-handling brand. We also aim to accelerate adoption of Connec-T across customer fleets. As we remain committed to providing world-class support, our focus will continue to be on improving service reach, fleet connectivity, and lifecycle value.
