MOBA introduces layer thickness measurement system in road construction
MOBA Mobile Automation AG launched its patented PAVE-TM, the world?s first system for automatic layer thickness measurement in road construction. The pioneering system captures the installation thickness of any road layer and is thus the first and only system for contact-free layer thickness measurement during asphalt installation, according to the company.

Layer thickness is a decisive quality feature in asphalt paving. Thus, PAVE-TM contributes significantly to the quality increase in road construction and at the same time enhances process reliability. In addition to the elimination of manual measurement errors, this also opens up new savings potential.

In combination with four high-precision, proven ultrasonic sensors Sonic-Ski PLUS, the high-end controller MPC-120 calculates the thickness of the layer in real time. After a single adjustment, the system continuously displays the thickness of the built-in layer ? whether surface, binder layer or asphalt base layer. With the permanent display of the current thickness values, the two brilliant displays GDC-320 support the installation team.

Thanks to the close cooperation with Dynapac, the machine manufacturer?s SD machine models are already able to display the current layer thickness directly in its external control stations. By this, the optional GDC-320 display can be omitted, if required. All pavers of the SD series are therefore PAVE-TM ready when leaving the factory. The system is also available as an add-on. Thus, pavers of all ages and types can be modernised and brought to the latest state-of-the-art.
