The Union Cabinet has approved an allocation of Rs 115 crore to expedite the Patna Metro Rail Project, a transformative initiative aimed at improving urban mobility in Bihars capital. The project, part of the governments focus on bolstering infrastructure in urban areas, is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, and provide eco-friendly transportation options to the citys residents. The Patna Metro project involves constructing two corridors: the Danapur-Mithapur route and the Patna Railway Station-New ISBT corridor, spanning a combined length of approximately 31 km. Once operational, the metro is anticipated to significantly reduce travel time and fuel consumption, contributing to a reduction in the citys carbon footprint. The Rs 115 crore funding is targeted at speeding up key aspects of construction, including station development, viaduct erection, and track laying.
