John Deere Redesigns 17 and 26 P-Tier Mini Excavators
John Deere has unveiled its redesigned 17 P-Tier and 26 P-Tier mini excavators at the 2025 Utility Expo, delivering stronger cycle times, improved digging power and broader attachment compatibility for contractors and landscapers. Manufactured in partnership with Wacker Neuson under their 2022 supply agreement, both models have been built entirely to John Deere specifications.

The 1.7-ton 17 P-Tier and 2.7-tonne 26 P-Tier each include a standard set of auxiliary hydraulic lines, with an optional dual-auxiliary system available from the factory. The 26 P-Tier further benefits from a diverter valve that directs hydraulics to dedicated attachments such as augers or compactors. Customers can select between a standard or long-arm configuration, the latter providing up to eight inches of additional dig depth.

A fixed-pin mechanical coupler option enables rapid attachment changes without compromising on compatibility—especially useful for those already using wedge-style accessories. “These machines are designed to maximise breakout force and quicken hydraulic response times, keeping operators productive and efficient,” said Justin Steger, Product Marketing Manager for John Deere Excavators.

Both excavators bring enhanced precision and versatility to site operations, meeting the needs of contractors seeking reliable, high-performance compact equipment capable of handling multiple tasks across construction and landscaping applications.
